We are preparing for the upcoming October 6th Harvest Festival.

Spaces are assigned on a first-come basis so send in your forms early. 

A Few Important Reminders:

You must fill out a registration form in order to participate, even if you are a downtown business and an FDP member.

Booth spaces are Free for those FDP members who have paid their 2013 membership. If you are unsure if you paid please contact our FDP treasurer Mary Graff at mgraff@berryinsurance.com. Send in your renewal soon so you can get your free booth space.

We will e-mail all participants in September with your booth placement.

Ice Cream for Kids "Caught" Wearing Helmets

Since July 1 the Franklin Police Department and Rick's Restaurant have joined forces to reward area kids who wear helmets while biking in downtown Franklin. During regular patrols, police officers are handing out tickets for a free small ice cream cone at Rick's to helmet wearers.

The program is a way to reinforce helmet use, which is required by state law for anyone under 16 years old but is often ignored. According to a recent Milford Daily News article, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says a helmet can reduce the risk of death by 37 percent and the risk of head injury by 69 percent for children and adults.

Register Now for Franklin Harvest Festival

Franklin’s Harvest Festival will be Sunday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Franklin Downtown Partnership is hard at work planning for this exciting annual event, which it expects will draw about 6,000 visitors to town. Organizers have set a registration deadline of September 1 for crafters, vendors, artists and community groups who want to participate in this year’s festival; however, downtown business owners should register by August 10 to secure store-front space. 

The Harvest Festival will be held rain or shine, and booth space is limited. The booth fee for non-Partnership members is $125, and the food vendor fee is $185. A late charge of $35 will be added for all registrations received after September 1 if booth space is still available. Interested vendors are encouraged to sign up early since booth spaces usually sell out.

Sponsors are needed to fund this popular fall festival. As a non-profit organization, the Downtown Partnership depends on sponsors to fund this and other efforts, including Beautification, the Strawberry Stroll and the Holiday Stroll. -There is no rain date for this festival so please plan accordingly with tents.  No refunds.

-Booth size is 10 ft x 10 ft. Set up will begin at 9:00 am. No earlier set up per police dept.

-Food vendors need to obtain a town health permit or have license.  

-Electricity, tables, tents and chairs are NOT Provided.

-No animals are allowed to be on display at booths per town policy. 

-No mobile political signs.  Signs must be part of the booth. 

-Please understand that this is a fund raiser and is organized by volunteers.  Please no face painting activity.

-Booths/tents on East Central Street sidewalk must be set up for visitors to walk through.

Booth Locations: If you would like a particular space you can indicate this on your form. 

We will try to accommodate your request if your application is received by August 10th. 

Due to heavy traffic areas we may need to locate your booth to a specific area.  

Please indicate if you would like to be located in the children’s area  behind Rockland Bank.

The Harvest Festival registration forms will only be sent out to current 2013 members this year. Non-members will need to pay $125.

Strawberry Stroll Was a Hit In Spite of Rain

The Franklin Downtown Partnership Strawberry Stroll was a big success in spite of the rain that had us move the event indoors Thursday afternoon! Hundreds of people strolled through the Depot Plaza to enjoy our Famous Strawberry Shortcakes, which were provided by Dean College, dished up by Dean Bank employees and topped off with whipped cream provided by Garelick Farms. Entertainment provided by Music Odyssey Productions kept the mood lively and fun. 

On their way through the building Strollers stopped by tables loaded with offerings by our generous sponsors and new businesses.

The Stroll continued down Main Street to the Franklin Art Association where Kevin Wolfe performed while kids painted "lollipops" to be used in a sculpture planned for the new Sculpture Park. 

The next stop was Jane's Frames. While kids helped paint a mural, parents signed up to win raffle prizes. Farther down East Central Street a Franklin High School jazz quartet provided a musical backdrop for cupcake lovers at The Cake Bar.

2013 Strawberry Stroll Press Release

Franklin’s Strawberry Stroll to be Thursday, June 13

Enjoy Strawberry Shortcake and Stroll Downtown from 4:00-7:00

The Franklin Downtown Partnership expects to dish up more than 700 sweet, juicy strawberry shortcakes at this year’s Strawberry Stroll on Thursday, June 13. The event will be held downtown from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., rain or shine. 

The FDP’s famous strawberry shortcakes will be served up by Dean Bank’s branch staff in front of the bank on Main Street. Volunteers expect to cut more than 160 quarts of red, ripe strawberries for the stroll. Garelick Farms will provide cases of whipped cream to top off the mouth-watering dessert. 

“We have seen great success with the transition of the event from a festival to a stroll. It encourages families to walk through the downtown and visit the local businesses. We are excited for our first event of the year and appreciate the continuing support of our local sponsors,” says Nicole Fortier, event chairperson. 

Sponsorship row will feature the event’s backers. Platinum sponsors for this event are Big Y World Class Market and Dean Bank. Silver sponsors are Dean College, Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU), Middlesex Savings Bank and Garelick Farms. Bronze sponsors are Chestnut Dental Associates and Franklin Ford, and at the Friends sponsor level CVS Pharmacy, Insanity All-Stars and Keefe Insurance. Music will be provided at the event by Music Odyssey Productions featuring Domenic Cotoia. The Franklin Art Center will have an art show and a sidewalk chalk design project for kids.

Participating businesses throughout downtown plan sweet and spring-themed specials for the afternoon. Singer and guitarist Kevin Wolfe will be performing outside Pisini Shoes on Main Street. At Jane’s Frames owner Jane Curran will have a special “Kids Create” art project for kids of all ages to participate in. 

The Historical Museum invites the public to its wedding gown display and A Cut Above will give out free hair tinsel, cider and cookies.  Many other downtown businesses also are offering store specials and discounts.  Visitors can stroll downtown and visit booths in front of local businesses.
