Franklin shop to reopen after car crashed into it

FRANKLIN -- A downtown quilt store which was heavily damaged by a car early Sunday morning is expected to reopen today, the shop’s owner says.

“(The police) called me at 2:30 in the morning to let me know somebody had driven into the building,” said Cyndi Rich, owner of Emma’s Quilt Cupboard.

Police did not return phone calls yesterday.

According to the arrest log, a Waltham man was arrested Sunday after driving into 12 Main St. — the address of Emma’s Quilt Cupboard — at 2:27 a.m.

Food Pantry Director Moves On

Franklin Food Pantry Executive Director Anne Marie Bellavance has resigned from the organization and will return to a career in Human Resources. According to its Board of Directors, Bellavance ran the Food Pantry for 30 months, during which time the organization became financially stable. As a result of her leadership, the Pantry, an FDP member, now provides more food and non-food items to 25% more clients than in the prior fiscal year, and clients are now able to pick up fresh produce throughout the year.


The Pantry will remain operating under Pantry Manager Linda Sottile. The Pantry, located at 43 West Central Street, is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. 

Saturday Celebrations

This Saturday, May 5, all Partnership members are invited to celebrate two big events: 

The Grand Opening of The Cake Bar and the 1-year anniversary at the Franklin Art Center!

The Cake Bar will celebrate the opening of their new location, 17 East Central Street (formerly Cafe Dolce), on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.  For more information about The Cake Bar check out their website, www.thecakebaronline.com.


Ian and Linda Kabat have invited all Partnership members to their anniversary event on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Frankin Art Center, 5 Main Street. For more information go to their website, www.franklinartcenter.com.

New Feature

We are introducing a new feature on our website -- we have created a space for our members to advertise downtown retail and office space they have available. We have called it simply "Downtown Office and Retail Space Available" and you can find it on the right-hand side of the page under the Downtown Partnership Calendar and next to the Downtown Partners' Links. 


We start this feature off with a listing from Joseph Byrne of Byrne Financial Freedom, LLC.
